In today's rapidly evolving digital world, education is no longer confined to physical classrooms. The shift towards Open, Distance and e-Learning (ODeL) has fundamentally transformed how knowledge is designed, delivered, and experienced globally. According to Bates (2019), ODeL has become one of the most significant developments in higher education, enabling institutions to extend their reach, promote flexibility, and foster inclusion. This module, Curriculum Theory and Development for ODeL, is therefore a cornerstone of the Master of Educational Technology (MET) programme.

 

The module equips you with both theoretical foundations and practical competencies required to design, develop, implement, and evaluate curricula tailored for digital and blended learning environments. Unlike traditional curriculum studies, this module places a strong emphasis on technology-enhanced curriculum design, enabling you to respond to contemporary educational demands such as online learning, flexible access, inclusivity, and lifelong learning (Anderson & Dron, 2011; Siemens, 2005).
